Fissure sealing – Prevention of Dental Caries

The peaks and dimples on the chewing surfaces of molars form a series of fissures. These deep fissures are difficult to clean and create non-self-cleaning surfaces where tooth decay often begins.

Fissure sealing is a simple and painless preventive treatment that seals these fissures with a tooth-colored, aesthetic material, effectively preventing future tooth decay. Importantly, no dental material is removed during this procedure.

The treatment creates a uniform, smooth surface on the chewing area, making it less prone to plaque and bacteria buildup.

  • Fissure sealing

  • Aesthetic Dental Fillings

  • Dental Inlays

  • Root Treatment, Microscopic Root canal Treatment

The scope of conservative dentistry includes dental interventions that help preserve healthy or already diseased teeth for as long as possible. These procedures aim to restore chewing function and improve the aesthetics of the teeth.

Extended fissure closure is recommended when caries has already penetrated deep into the fissures of a tooth. In such cases, the cavity is carefully prepared by drilling a small hole on the surface of the tooth before sealing it. The treatment then proceeds as with standard fissure closure.

Fissure sealing is best performed after teeth have fully erupted. By opting for this simple and gentle procedure, you can prevent future unpleasant and costly dental interventions for your child. At the Terenyi Clinic, fissure closure is quick and efficient, taking approximately 15 minutes.

Aesthetic Dental Filling
A dental filling is a direct restoration performed by a dentist to repair a cavity or decayed tooth, restoring its function and appearance.
Steps for Making a Dental Filling
  • Local Anesthesia

  • Isolation: Ensuring a dry environment, placing a rubber dam if necessary

  • Cavity Preparation: Removing decayed parts and preparing the cavity of the tooth

  • Surface Roughening: Etching the surface and applying adhesive

  • Filling Material Application: The filling material is inserted in layers and solidifies under the light of a photopolymerization lamp

  • Height Adjustment and Polishing

The Material of Dental Fillings
In all cases, we use aesthetic, composite, light-curing fillings. At our clinic, we work with the most modern, high-quality Japanese materials, including Tokuyama and Gradia GC.

Types of Dental Fillings
Dental fillings can be categorized based on their size and location into cervical fillings, single-surface fillings, or multi-surface fillings.

After a dental filling, you should only eat once the numbness has completely worn off. Ensure that the height of the filling is properly adjusted, as this is important not only for comfort but also for maintaining the correct position of the jaw joint. If you experience discomfort after the filling, please return to us as soon as possible. This discomfort may occur due to post-filling sensitivity or deeper cavities. In most cases, the sensitivity subsides on its own within a few weeks. If it persists, do not hesitate to contact us.

Materials of Dental Inlays

Based on the material used, the following types of inlays can be distinguished:

  • Primarily Ceramic (IPS e.max®)
  • Pressed Ceramic Inlay: Made from an exceptionally hard material, ensuring maximum precision in the inlay's fabrication.
  • Composite/Gradia Inlay:
Produced in dental laboratories using high wear-resistant, light-curing materials.
Can be made in multiple layers and customized with individual shading.
The wear resistance, wall strength, and other physical properties of composite inlays are superior to those of traditional dental fillings.

Dental Inlays (Inlay/Onlay/Overlay)

A dental inlay is a prosthetic restoration made by a dental technician to restore a tooth. It is bonded into the cavity of a properly prepared tooth.

A betét előnyei:

  • Compared to traditional dental fillings, inlays have the significant advantage of offering extremely precise design and fit.
Inaccuracies caused by the shrinkage of filling materials are eliminated during their fabrication.
As a result, inlays are highly durable and have a long service life.
  • They provide outstanding aesthetic appearance.
  • The procedure involves the removal of very little healthy tooth material.

Depending on the extent of the restoration, we distinguish between inlay, onlay, and overlay.
