Bone grafring
Implantation is usually a simple procedure that takes only a few minutes. However, in our practice, when planning the implantation, we often face jaw bone that is atrophied to varying degrees: insufficient amount or quality of bone supply in the optimal area for implantation.
Today we can safely say that there is no unsolvable case!
In recent years, we have experienced a great progress in bone regeneration both in terms of bone replacement materials and regeneration techniques.
In less complicated cases, if areas suitable for implantation can still be found on the CT scan, the implant can be placed in the optimal position using the Nobelguide navigation template.
Bone augmentation in the chewing area of the upper jaw is now considered a routine intervention.
We distinguish between so-called open and closed sinus lifts.
An open procedure is performed if there is less than 7 mm of bone height under the sinus in the area to be implanted. In this case, the lower area of the sinus is filled with BioOss bone replacement granules, which is protected from the surrounding tissues with a special collagen membrane.
A closed sinus lift is a simpler procedure, which is performed when there is 7-9 mm of bone height at the implant site. In this case, we use a special device to lift the mucous membrane of the sinus by up to 2-3 mm through the created cavity of the implant.
The aim of the intervention is to promote the formation of own bone of the appropriate quality, size and blood supply in the given area, not only in the horizontal but also in the vertical dimension.
Materials used: For bone augmentation at our clinic, only clinically proven, premium quality bone replacement materials (Bio-Oss – Geistich, Creos – Nobel Biocare) and membranes are used. Depending on the type of bone deficiency, your own bone may also be used. We will inform the patient about this. For all of that, we use the scientifically proven, Swiss BioOss beef bone material in the form of granules, which we mix with own bone material obtained from other areas of the oral cavity.
The stability of the augmentated area is ensured with a collagen membrane or, in the case of vertical bone structure, with a titanium mesh. The healing time after bone replacement can be 4-9 months. Certain procedures can be performed at the same time as the implantation.
Bone augmentation is also performed under local anesthesia, thus ensuring complete painlessness.
